Meet Cara Carlton, a seasoned communications professional helping leaders genuinely communicate with employees, customers, and the community.
“Hello! I’m so glad you’re here.
I believe in the power of communication to build connections. Whether sharing good news, difficult truths, challenging decisions, strategic direction, leadership shifts, or gathering data, or moving a policy bill, the way an organization (or person!) communicates with those impacted is crucial.
My extensive communication skills have evolved through a blend of everyday moments and extraordinary experiences over the last three decades, enhancing my expertise in technology, higher education, financial services, economic development, business development, and healthcare. I offer my clients the depth and breadth of my experience and skills in communications, public relations, media relations, government affairs, and policy roles, and I greatly enjoy this meaningful work.
Throughout my career, I have been a trusted member of leadership teams, shaping communication for employees, customers, boards, investors, elected officials, and the overall community. I help people understand what is happening around them, often in times of crisis and great uncertainty. I’ve led communication efforts through various situations, including federal regulatory actions, mergers and acquisitions, earnings reports, layoffs, recapitalization efforts, rebranding initiatives, community outreach, and crises such as the 2020 pandemic.
I have a career that I am truly proud of and that has been meaningful, including serving as a producer on several videos, ads, campaigns, and even an award-winning documentary series (Housing & Help). The bottom line is: I add value by helping leaders and organizations live out their mission through intentional communication strategies that build trust.”
Cara was not born but raised in Spokane and has worked as a communications, public relations, media, and government relations professional for more than 30 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.E.) from Eastern Washington University, where she double-majored in English and Education and minored in history.
